Internet Reacts To MSNBC Canceling Joy Reid's Show: 'Regressive Move'

MSNBC has reportedly axed Joy Reid's evening news show in a major overhaul of the network amid President Donald Trump's administration.
According to The Hill, Reid, who's hosted MSNBC's "The ReidOut" since 2020, is scheduled to appear for the final broadcast of her show sometime this week.
Reid has served as a powerful on-air voice for the Black community, sharing her commentary on political news and events on "TheReidOut." She also previously anchored for the network on "The Reid Report" and "AM Joy."
The Black Lives Matter foundation called Reid's ouster a "regressive move."
"MSNBC’s decision to remove Joy Reid, our direct connection to the pulse of our communities, was a regressive move," BLM wrote in a statement on X. "For Black audiences, she was a trusted voice who brought our stories, perspectives, and urgent issues to the forefront. Her absence leaves a void in representation and truth-telling at a time when we need it most."
The move came roughly a month after Rashida Jones stepped down from MSNBC. Jones was replaced by Rebecca Kutler, who previously served as the network's senior vice president of content strategy.
Symone Sanders Townsend, Michale Steele, and Alicia Menendez, who currently host the network’s “The Weekend,” are reportedly slated to anchor during Reid's evening slot.
MSNBC hasn't publicly addressed the changes.
Social media users accused the network of bending at the knee for Trump, who celebrated Reid's departure.
"Lowlife Chairman of 'Concast,' Brian Roberts, the owner of Ratings Challenged NBC and MSDNC, has finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television, the mentally obnoxious racist, Joy Reid. Based on her ratings, which were virtually non-existent, she should have been 'canned' long ago, along with everyone else who works there," the president wrote on his Truth Social platform.

I owe the television part of my career to Joy Reid, as do so many other Black voices y'all never would have heard of if not for her.

And *that's* why she's gone. They can treat black folks as interchangeable, but everybody Black knows that Joy was indispensable.
Joy Reid educated a nation every single night. She is a beacon on MSNBC and all of media! Shame on MSNBC for this. SHAME SHAME SHAME!

Over the course of my career, Joy Reid has been one of the few to give me and so many other Black voices consistent airtime.

This cancellation hurts, but the bounce back will be impeccable. We got you, Joy. pic.twitter.com/eG8N3Kcnbi
Grateful for Joy Reid & her willingness to always provide a forum for voices and candidates often ignored by mainstream media.

Can you name another show or host who brought together 5 Black candidates running for the US Senate?! Thank you Joy! pic.twitter.com/cxsNYiCgy2
Joy Reid @thereidout is one of the boldest voices speaking truth to power. She speaks out for justice at home AND abroad. MSNBC should not have fired her. This comes after firing @mehdirhasan. Joy deserves to have a show in prime time given how many she speaks for.
