Mass Shooting At Park Leaves 3 Dead, 14 Injured

A shooting at Young Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico, left three people dead and 14 others injured late Friday (March 21). The victims, who range in age from 16 to 36, were transported to various hospitals, including the University Medical Center of El Paso, the regional trauma center. The deceased include two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old boy, though their names have not been released yet.
The Las Cruces Police Department, with assistance from New Mexico State Police, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is actively investigating the incident.
No arrests have been made, but the police are following several leads. They are seeking help from the public, asking bystanders to share any videos or tips that could aid in identifying suspects. The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. at the park, which is a popular music and recreation venue.
Las Cruces City Councilor and Mayor Pro Tem Johana Bencomo expressed her sorrow on Instagram, stating, "Honestly, nowadays, a tragedy like this feels like a nightmare just waiting to come true."

The news conference will be livestreamed on the City of Las Cruces YouTube channel. Young Park and all roadways leading to the park are temporarily closed while investigators conduct their work.
