When choosing a restaurant, many diners decide to frequent well-known eateries and even popular chains for a meal they can expect to be delicious. However, some of the best restaurants are the hidden gems and locally beloved establishments that have become a staple of their community.

Cheapism searched around the country for the "best under-the-radar steakhouse" in every state, choosing to celebrate the "chef- or family-owned steak joints" with stellar ratings and reviews over the "well-known chains" and other "usual suspects."

So which underrated Colorado steakhouse stands out among the rest?

The Fort

This Denver-area restaurant was praised for its mouthwatering and "eclectic" cuts. The Fort, which has a 4.4 star rating and nearly 3,000 reviews, is located at 19192 CO-8 in Morrison.

Here's what Cheapism had to say about this hidden gem establishment:

"Proprietress and culinary director Holly Arnold Kinney has created an eclectic exotic steak menu at The Fort since its establishment in 1963, including a Game Plate with elk medallion, buffalo sirloin medallion, and grilled teriyaki quail. The Incorrect Steak is a 14-ounce Colorado natural beef New York strip topped with a blend of melted Mexican cheeses, New Mexico Dixon red chile sauce and a fried egg. The Gonzales Steak is a 14-ounce Colorado natural beef New York strip stuffed with New Mexica Hatch Green chiles, topped with a freshly grilled chile pod and served with seasonal vegetables and potatoes."
