Ken Griffey Jr.'s Photo Of Rory McIlroy At Masters Goes Viral

Baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr.'s photo of Rory McIlroy winning the 2025 Masters Tournament and completing the career Grand Slam has gone viral.

Griffey, 55, one of Major League Baseball's brightest stars during the 1990s and 2000s, has embarked on a new career as a sports photographer, which included being credentialed at Augusta National over the weekend. The 13-time All-Star captured several photos of McIlroy, 35, after his first career Masters Tournament win, which included celebrating on all fours on the 18th green while being overwhelmed with emotion, as well as hugging longtime friend and caddy Harry Diamond.

McIlroy's win at Augusta secured his fifth career major, having previously won the U.S. Open in 2011, PGA Championship in 2012 and 2014 and the Open Championship in 2014. The Northern Ireland native joins Gene Sarazen (1935), Ben Hogan (1953), Gary Player (1965), Jack Nicklaus (1966) and Tiger Woods (2000) as the only players to win all four major tournaments.

McIlroy defeated Justin Rose, who led through the first two rounds of the four-day tournament, in a sudden death playoff at Augusta National Golf Course. The 35-year-old missed a par putt, concluding regulation tied with Rose at 11-under par, before on the 18th hole before defeating Rose in a sudden death playoff by finishing at one over.

McIlroy finished with a 73 through 18 holes, which included six birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing the round at +1 for the day and and 11-under for the tournament.
