FSU Mass Shooter Changed Name; Long History Of Mental Illness And Family Trauma

(Tallahassee, FL) -- The Florida State University mass shooter allegedly has a long history of mental health problems and family trauma. According to court documents suspect Christian Gunnar Eriksen, who changed his name to Phoenix Ikner in 2019, was kidnapped by his mother and taken to Norway as a child. He has developmental delays and special needs and was prescribed medication for a growth hormone disorder and ADHD. Ikner's mom filed a civil lawsuit in 2015 against his father claiming child abuse.

FSU Classes Back In Session Monday In Tallahassee

(Tallahassee, FL)-- Classes will be back in session today at Florida State. President Richard McCullough says some classes may switch to online, mandatory attendance policies have been waived and support is available if needed.   

Orlando Police Kill Man In Shooting

(Orlando, FL) -- A man is dead after he was shot by police in Orlando. It happened yesterday morning outside the Thrive Cocktail Lounge and Eatery on South Orange Ave. Orlando Police say Jonathan Angel Flores pulled a gun during a fight and fired a round into the air. Officers ordered him to drop the weapon, but when he refused, he was shot. The 38-year-old was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The OPD says the officers involved are on paid leave. The FDLE is investigating, and the OPD will do an internal investigation, too.

Two Polk County Deputies Released From Hospital

(Bartow, FL) -- Two law enforcement officers hurt on duty in Polk County are out of the hospital. The sheriff's office announced Saturday Deputy Ed Alexander and Bartow Police Officer Mark Sills were released Friday. They were hurt Friday morning in a shootout with a man accused of pistol-whipping his mother. 

Robot-Operated "Convenience" Stores Open

(North Hollywood, CA)-- "Robot retail" is here. The company VenHub has opened two robot-operated convenience stores in California. Operating like a cash-less vending machine, customers can order items on the VenHub app.A robot arm will retrieve the items and dispense them to the customer through a drawer. VenHub says its stores have lower building and operating costs, which results in lower prices for customers.
