Describing the Quality of Life in San Diego

April 23, 2025

The news this week about overall crime being down in San Diego for the third year in a row is in line with our reputation for being one of the safest large cities in the country.

You may have never seen it on the city’s website, but on the page that talks about the “Quality of Life” in San Diego, it is called a safe city….and much more.

The city’s website describes San Diego as being a “safe and beautiful city rich in culture and entertainment.”

And it goes on to say, “Since the weather is usually warm and sunny year-round, you can enjoy many outdoor activities, including water sports, major tourist attractions…and more than 50 City parks and recreation centers.”

On other unofficial websites you’ll find lots of comments from people who live here about how the different and diverse neighborhoods make it a good place to live despite the cost of living.

When it comes to quality of life, San Diegans mention everything from the beaches to the burritos.  But also the buzz, that laid back and relaxed lifestyle that helps make San Diego what it is.
