Petros Krommidas, a 29-year-old political candidate from Long Island, New York, has been missing since Wednesday (April 23). According to the Nassau County Police Department, Krommidas was last seen in Baldwin, New York, wearing a camouflage print sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. His vehicle was found near the Long Beach boardwalk, and his clothes, towel, and phone were discovered on the beach.
"On Wednesday, April 23, Petey parked his car by the Allegria Hotel in Long Beach, New York. He locked his car, took a towel, and around 10:30 PM walked onto the beach to exercise, just as he had done many times before," his family wrote in a social media post. "On Thursday, April 24, the police found his towel, clothes, and phone left on the beach. Since then, search efforts have been ongoing, but we need the public’s help."
The post noted that Krommidas is in great shape, often exercised on the beach, and was familiar with cold water training.
The Nassau County Police Department continues to search for Krommidas, and they encourage anyone with information to contact the Missing Persons Squad at 516-573-7347 or call 911.
Krommidas, a Democrat, is running for a seat in the Nassau County Legislature's Fourth District. The primary election is scheduled for June 24, with the general election on November 4. Just days before his disappearance, Krommidas spoke at a Nassau County Young Democrats meeting, expressing his commitment to making a difference in the community.
