On Tuesday (April 29) Metallica announced a reissue of their 1996 hit album Load that was remastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering with oversight by Greg Fidelman, Metallica’s current go-to studio engineer.
The reissue will be available in a variety of packages. The more accessible version is a 2-LP vinyl release featuring the original tracklist and remastered audio, plus a separate 3-CD deluxe edition that includes the original tracklist, a second disc of previously unreleased demos and rough mixes, and a third disc of era-specific live material.
Then there's The Load Remastered Limited Edition Deluxe Box that boasts 15 CDs, six LPs, and four DVDs and is referred to in a press release as “a comprehensive time capsule of 1995-97 era Metallica." The massive collection features 245 previously unreleased tracks. (See the full tracklist here.)
The Load Remastered Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set is slated to come out June 13 on the band's label Blackened Recordings. To celebrate the announcement, Metallica released a remastered version of "Until It Sleeps," which you can listen to below.
Metallica recently kicked off the 2025 North American leg of their M72 Tour and plan to begin working on a new album after the tour wraps up.
