Popular restaurants and chains are loved by many for a reason, serving up delicious meals and interesting culinary creations sure to please. However, some restaurants have such a dedicated following that they have achieved legend status, local hotspots that have become cult favorites and community staples, offering guests a unique atmosphere, colorful decor or interesting dishes that they might not find anywhere else.

According to a list compiled by LoveFood, the "best cult-favorite restaurant" in all of South Carolina is actually a tie between the "cozy" Husk and "crowd-pleasing" Hyman's Seafood, both in Charleston. Here's what the site had to say about these "iconic" restaurants:

"It's fair to say people go a little crazy over Husk. Serving beautiful, highly considered farm-to-table Southern food, this downtown eatery has one heck of a hubbub around it – so you're going to want to reserve a table before you go. A cozy atmosphere and a menu of elevated homey classics... what's not to like?"
"No trip to Charleston is complete without dining at Hyman's Seafood. The popular spot has been serving up some of the best seafood in America since 1890, and it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. The wood-paneled dining room is filled with photographs scribbled with the autographs of noteworthy people who have eaten here over the years. The menu, meanwhile, is packed with crowd-pleasing dishes, including salmon croquettes, shrimp and grits, and giant seafood platters."
