Rap Rising: Key Glock Releases His Long-Awaited Album 'Glockaveli'

Key Glock serves up authentic bars over hard-hitting beats with familiar samples on his most anticipated album.

On Friday, May 2, the Memphis rapper debuted his fourth studio album Glockaveli via Paper Route Empire/Republic Records. His album opens with his refreshing hymn "Hallelujah" followed by the title track, which contains samples of Rickie Boger's 1976 hit "Slow Down, Baby." It continues with "Blue Devil," which samples Willie Hutch's well-known joint "Tell Me Why Has Our Love Turned Cold," and his Erykah Badu-inspired banger "Badu." Glizock recently shouted out the esteemed R&B singer for clearing the sample of her hit "Didn't Cha Know."

Key Glock's new album comes with other songs including the lead single "3AM in ToKEYo" produced by DJ Paul and "No Sweat," which samples Keith Sweat's "Nobody." Although there are no features on the album, Key Glock previously told Angela Yee that he doesn't mind teaming up with other artists.

"I don't mind collabing at all," he said. "I'm down to collab but like when they hear Glock don't do features they think I don't do them at all like I won't even get on they songs. So it kinda gives people an 'I don't know'-ish feeling about me. But some people still come and ask for the feature."

"Blue Devil" sits at the top of iHeartRadio's Rap Rising playlist. The playlist also includes other songs from the album, like the title track and "The Grinch." Glock's album arrived on the same day as albums from other artists including Benny The Butcher, Lloyd Banks, Pap Chanel, Boldy James and more.
