Former NBA star Paul Pierce is catching heat for his take on why some of his basketball peers choose to date white women.

During a February episode of his podcast, "The Truth After Dark," Pierce sat down with his co-host, Azar Farideh, and rapper Guapdad 4000 to discuss relationships and dating.

The trio debated whether men or women are more "toxic," before Farideh shifted the conversation to ask Pierce about why several basketball stars choose to date white women.

“Why do you feel like men, especially NBA players, get with white women? Is it ‘cause they’re ‘easy’?” Farideh asked the former Boston Celtics star-turned-commentator.

“I honestly think that maybe they appreciate more and they apologize more,” Pierce said, garnering laughter from his co-host and Guapdad.

“They all don’t mind being held accountable," he added.

Pierce's comments resurfaced on social media this week, garnering widespread backlash.

"Black men who think like this are what's wrong with our community," one X user tweeted.

"Black women gotta be the most disrespected people group in the world…" another person wrote in part.

"I always say date/married whoever you want, but the disrespecting towards black women gotta stop," a third user commented.
