My Weekend: Family Get Together, Ribs, Fire, Lobster and Beer

May 5, 2025

Since Mother Nature is being a fickle b**ch lately, we pretty much did inside stuff for most of the weekend! (How long is this stretch of rainy weekends going to last? Holy ****!!!_

I did get to rake and blow the lawn and yard just before the rain started again on Saturday - so at least I got ONE thing accomplished this weekend!

Friday started with a family get together to honor my Mom. Friday was the day she was buried in our local cemetary - which is weird to even say. They have to wait for the ground to thaw before they can do that. (That, by the way is one of the most f***ed up things I've ever learned as an adult. That they actually put people "in storage" till winter is over!). Anyway- please know this- I know it's a sad subject, but I'm NOT sad about it Truly! I had my mom for 63 years, and she was awesome. At the end, dimentia has started to set in - and the road ahead was ugly. I view her passing as merciful. She wasn't in pain, and it was very peaceful. She was given grace for a life well lived, and to me- that thought is extremely comforting- so please, if I ever talk about that, don't feel bad for me. I was lucky to have her as a MOm, and now she's with me/us - everyday.

Anyway- we had a nice family get together at the house after the graveside service- and it was great to have everybody and their kids there. Here's the orginal Kretschmar 6! Valerie (my sister), Dad, and Patti, and in the back- Sharon, Terri, me and David.

Saturday, I took a short drive out to shoot some fog pics, and then it was back to the house for the yard word. Then - it was off to my nieces son's birthday party. He's 2.

And if you're heard me talk about kids birthday parties, you know how I feel about them. Don't get me wrong- I love that kid (and my niece and her husband) - but I don't think ANY adult likes going to a kids birthday parties. Period. No way that kid (and he IS a great kid) will ever remember us being there. Kids birthday parties are for kids. Having said that, I went. The kid is adorable and it was nice. Moving on -

Then it was off to Northwoods Brewing Company and Johnsons' Restaurant to meet some friends for dinner!

Did someone say "Ribs"?

Yes please!

Then it was over to Dave and Jolene's house for a little late night fire to help celebrate Dave's birthday!

Sunday was a lazy day until late afternoon when the Brewery Crew got together at Roberts Maine Grill for some brews and dinner -

Oh, and did someone say "Lobster"?

Yes please!

Yeah, I went a little nuts this weekend on the dinners- hahah!

And I can't leave out Daisy! This is how she sits on the bed- pretty much stretched out across the whole damn thing! She ain't a big dog- but she's LONG!!! haha

Wish I had more to report than what I ate- but it was that kind of weekend.

Hope you had a good one-
