A NEW EXHIBIT ON A FAMOUS DISASTER HITS TOWN It's all about the Titanic, which of course was a massive ocean liner that hit an iceberg and sank, taking many lives with it. Now there is an exhibit in town, Titanic: An Immersive Voyage that opens in Denver on May 7th. It’s been 40 years since the Titanic wreck was discovered by Navy officer Robert Ballard, 400 miles off Newfoundland’s coast, ending a 73-year mystery. Now, as we mark this historic find, Exhibition Hub and Fever bring the Titanic’s story to life in Denver with the “Titanic: An Immersive Voyage” exhibition. REP. BRITTANY PETTERSEN MAKES NALOXONE FUNDING PERSONAL I admire Rep. Brittany Pettersen for sharing the story of her own family's addiction struggles while trying to preserve funding for the HHS program that makes the drug naloxone available to stop overdose deaths. Her own mother struggled with addiction for many years after being prescribed painkillers for a back injury and Pettersen says naloxone saved her mother multiple times. From the letter:

"In one year alone, my mom overdosed more than 20 times and even overdosed three times in a single day," Pettersen wrote. "But she is one of the lucky ones. Time and time again, she was administered naloxone, and eventually, she was finally able to receive the treatment she needed.”

We'll see if the funding remains, although HHS says no decisions have been made on spending cuts.

COLORADO DEMOCRATS DOUBLE DOWN ON SANCTUARY LAWS Just as the DoJ announces a lawsuit because we are a sanctuary state. Will Governor Jared Polis, who is continuing to say we aren't a sanctuary state when we CLEARLY are such a state, veto this new bill that gives illegal immigrant the chance to withdraw a guilty plea for a crime way after the fact? That's not all it does, it also does all this stuff:

• Repealing the requirement for an affidavit stating that an undocumented person has applied for lawful presence or will apply for lawful presence as soon as they are eligible when an undocumented person is applying for in-state student tuition or an identification document
• Prohibiting jail custodians from delaying the release of a defendant for the purpose of an immigration enforcement operation
• Extends the ability to petition a court to vacate a guilty plea to class 3 misdemeanors as classified at the time of plea if the defendant was not adequately advised of the adverse immigration consequences of a guilty plea or if the guilty plea was constitutionally infirm
• Extends the prohibition on local law enforcement from enforcing a civil immigration detainer to also include peace officers
• Prevents probation officers and departments from sharing personal information about a person with pretrial officers or pretrial services employees
• Prevents employees of a detention facility from allowing federal immigration authorities into the non-public portions of a detention facility unless they are investigating a federal crime or as required by a federal warrant to transfer an inmate to or from federal custody

Dems passed this bill on a party line vote (of course) and if I'm the DoJ this just gives me more ammunition to prove my case. I can't wait to see how many tax dollars are wasted on this nonsense. You can read more about the lawsuit by clicking here.

MORE IDIOCY FROM DPS First off, they not only extended the contract of the "bilingual Afro Latino" Superintendent Alex Marrero even though students are performing poorly under his "leadership" they gave him a MASSIVE golden parachute that is absurd. And now, the "bilingual Afro Latino" Marrero is demanding the board censure a member who dares to point out his failures, using accusations of racism (of course) to gird his point. HOW SHOULD AURORA DEAL WITH PROTESTERS WHO WON'T STOP? The shooting of Kilyn Lewis was determined to be justified by both the Aurora PD Internal Affairs and the DA's office. Officers were going to arrest Lewis for attempted murder when he failed to follow commands and was shot and killed by officers. There is body cam footage that shows the entire event. The family and friends of Kilyn Lewis are not satisfied by that and have been attending pretty much every Aurora City Council meeting demanding that the officer who shot Lewis be fired. They are not giving up. Aurora City Council has made numerous changes to public comment trying to keep the group in order but this seems to be a stalemate. The people won't stop until the officer who has been cleared if fired for something he was cleared for. So what do we do? I'm going to ask the hive mind to help out here.

NO, WE DON'T NEED TO CHANGE THE NAME OF VETERANS DAY This is a bad, bad idea from President Trump and lots of veterans are pushing back. What's the idea? To change the name of Veterans Day to "Victory Day for World War I," and establish a new federal holiday May 8, “Victory Day for World War II.”  This is a rotten idea that erases the honoring of ALL veterans who have served in war and peacetime. NOW WE'RE REWARDING HORRIBLE RACIST BEHAVIOR To be honest, I had missed this entire story until today. A trashy looking woman was caught in a park calling a five year old black boy the N word. She says he was digging through her kid's diaper bag (entirely possible at a public park) so she unleashed on him by calling him the N word. A guy confronted her and caught her on tape doubling down. She was doxxed by the angry mob, her social security number and phone number and address released, and she started a campaign to raise money to be able to move and far right is making her rich.
