Webb Reese, the mother of Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, took a shot at her daughter's longtime perceived rival, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark on her X account Saturday (May 3).
The elder Reese responded to criticism that her daughter's return to her alma mater, LSU, for the Sky's preseason opener at Pete Maravich Assembly Center appeared to have a low attendance ahead of reported sellouts for Clark's return to the University of Iowa for two of the Fever's preseason games at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
"Aww that certain fan base looking in the stands celebrating 'attendance' while others are looking up in the rafters celebrating championship banners. We ain’t the same. Different year same haters. Have a great day," Webb Reese wrote.

Reese led LSU to a national championship win against Iowa in 2023, which included doing a "you can't see me" gesture than many took as a person jab at Clark, who had done the same gesture at then-Louisville guard Hailey Van Lith, who eventually transferred to LSU and later TCU, in that year's Final Four round. Iowa defeated LSU in the Final Four in 2024 before losing to South Carolina in the national championship during Clark's final collegiate game.
Clark, the NCAA all-time leading scorer for both women's and men's basketball and the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, won the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award while averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds. Reese, who was selected No. 7 overall, finished second in the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year voting, having set the league record for most consecutive double-doubles with 15 and single-season rebounds with 446.
