Federal Judges Back Orlando Restaurant In Fight Against State Drag Show Law

A federal appeals court yesterday upheld Hamburger Mary's preliminary injunction to block SB 1438 from taking effect. The law passed two years ago bans kids from attending shows that simulate nudity or sexual acts. Hamburger Mary's holds drag shows it describes as family-friendly, and it's arguing the law violates its First Amendment rights. Hamburger Mary's filed the suit while it was still in Orlando, but it has since announced plans to move to Kissimmee.
