Tory Lanez's Alleged Prison Attacker Identified

The man who allegedly attacked Tory Lanez in prison has been identified as an inmate is currently serving a life sentence.

According to a report TMZ published on Tuesday, May 13, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed Santino Casio as the alleged inmate who shanked Lanez multiple times while they were in a housing unit at the California Correctional Institution (CCI) in Tehachapi. The 42-year-old inmate was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole for second-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, personal use of a dangerous or deadly weapon, and inflicting great bodily injury.

This wasn't the first time Casio had attacked someone behind bars. During his time at CCI, Casio was sentenced to six years for assaulting a prisoner with a deadly weapon or force likely to cause great bodily injury and received an additional two years for possession/manufacture of a deadly weapon by a prisoner. He's currently being held in restricted housing as the investigation into his alleged attack on Lanez continues.

Tory Lanez was stabbed 14 times at 7:20 a.m. Monday morning. Casio allegedly struck him seven times in his back, four times in his torso, twice in the back of his head, and once on the left side of his face. Prison staff called 911 immediately after the attack and gave him medical aid before he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Both of his lungs collapsed, but he was placed on a breathing apparatus until he could breathe on his own. His team said he is speaking normally and is expected to make a full recovery.

"Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through," his team said in a statement. "He also wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support."

Tory Lanez is still recovering in a hospital in Bakersfield. He's currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
