Kelsea Ballerini unpacked her baggage with a few special guests when she took the stage on The Voice on Tuesday evening (May 13).
Ballerini performed a stripped-down version of “Baggage,” an energetic, fan-favorite single that appeared on her fifth studio album. She released Patterns in October — and the 20-track deluxe edition in March — with “Baggage,” “First Rodeo,” “Two Things,” “We Broke Up,” “Cowboys Cry Too” with Noah Kahan, and more. Ballerini teamed up with an all-female team of co-writers to bring Patterns to life. Those writers — Jessie Jo Dillon, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, Hillary Lindsey and Alysa Vanderheym — joined Ballerini on stage when she performed on the hit NBC show. They sat on stage together surrounded by open suitcases with clothing spilling out of them, bright sunflowers and other set pieces. A screen behind them transitioning from a flowery pattern and a bright sky to baggage feely flying away from the group.
Ballerini is serving as a coach for the first time in The Voice’s 27th season, alongside returning coaches Adam Levine, Michael Bublé and John Legend. One of the Team Kelsea artists, country singer Jaelen Johnston, secured a spot in the Top 5 heading into the Finale next week. Johnston will compete alongside Renzo, Lucia Flores-Wiseman, Jadyn Cree and Adam David, from teams Legend, Levine, Bublé and Bublé, respectively. The Finale will air on Monday, May 19, and the results will follow on Tuesday, May 20. The Voice airs on NBC and streams on Peacock. Watch Ballerini’s performance here:
