5/15/25 Blog: A Lawsuit About Boys In Girl's Sports
May 15, 2025
THERE'S A LAWSUIT ABOUT BOYS IN GIRLS SPORTS And if was filed by School District 49 (D49) in the Springs. It doesn't involve a case of a trans girl competing, but is a pre emptive suit and the state organization in charge of high school sports has policies that are in violation of Title IX and of Trump's Executive Order on the subject. Read more here, but Superintendent Peter Hilts joins me at 1:10 today to talk about it.
GET YOUR POKER FACE READY Because if you love poker you can have a fun night and help raise money for the children of veterans this Christmas. The Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP) is hosting a poker tournament this Saturday evening. The details are below but here is the link to sign up.
VAREP President Jeff Zoerb joins me at 2:30 to chat about it.
BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP HEADS TO THE SUPREME COURT And I'm not EXACTLY sure what will come out of this because this hearing is more about procedural stuff when it comes to district courts issuing stays that check the President of the United States's power. The Pacific Legal Foundation says Trump vs CASA is about "a Trump-era Executive Order aimed at ending birthright citizenship for children born to unlawful or non-permanent immigrants. Lower courts blocked the policy nationwide, not just for the plaintiffs, and now the Justices will weigh in on whether courts have the authority to issue such sweeping injunctions." What will this mean for birthright citizenship overall? I've got Joe Luppino-Esposito from the Pacific Legal Foundation at 12:30 on it.

MEDICAID CUTS COULD HIT COLORADO HARD Because we would fall under the provision that will penalize states for enrolling illegal immigrants into Medicaid, as we do here. I read this long article in the Denver Post and one thing pops into my mind. Jared Polis should be arguing for a block grant from the federal government so Colorado could spend its Medicaid funds like they want to for abortion and illegal immigrants. They don't want to do that though, because in the current system they can continue to bilk the federal government by jacking up garbage fees like the Hospital Provider Fee so they can get higher reimbursements. Read this part:
The Colorado Hospital Association projected earlier this year that the state could lose $11 billion over the next five years if the law changed to eliminate all matching funds on the taxes, but said Tuesday that the current proposal calls for less-severe reductions.
Got that? The state wants more of other people's money so they levy taxes and then pass those taxes onto the federal government. Then there's this:
The bill’s work requirements would cause direct coverage losses, when recipients couldn’t show they either had a job or qualified for an exemption. Reducing Medicaid funding to states likely would cause further losses, however.
Why is this? There are clear exemptions and it doesn't even require you to GET A JOB, it just requires you to volunteer for 80 hours a month if you aren't working, and this is ONLY for able bodied people with no dependents. WTF are they even doing???? Sorry that was rude. I don't mean to sound heartless, but if you single, and health, and don't have kids to worry about GET A JOB. Do SOMETHING. Why are Republicans doing this?
Rep. Diana DeGette, a Democrat representing Denver, said the Republicans’ proposed cuts to Medicaid are primarily aimed at paying for tax cuts for the wealthy.
“House Republicans are so laser-focused on pleasing Trump, they are willing to make their constituents’ lives harder and health care more expensive,” she said in a statement.
She's lying. Here are the tax rates before and after the Trump tax cuts so you can judge for yourself from Forbes.com:
Certainly looks like EVERYONE benefited from the Trump tax cuts, doesn't it? And that letting them expire will be a tax HIKE for everyone! And yes, the richer you are, the more you save, but the MORE YOU PAY in the first place so there's that. Plus the effective tax rates for the bottom half dropped MORE than for the top half. DeGette never met a concept she can't get wrong.
WHY THE RUSH, MAYOR? That is the implicit question from one City Council member when it comes to a ginormous bond issue that Mayor Mike Johnston wants on THIS upcoming November's ballot. One Councilmember Amanda Sawyer had this to say:
“I am not okay with the process at all,” District 5 Councilmember Amanda Sawyer told members of the city’s Vibrant Denver Bond working group on Wednesday. “I want to apologize to the staff in Department of Finance, because you guys have been set up for failure and you have been asked for extraordinary work in a very limited amount of time…So I want to make it very clear: you are doing an amazing job.”
Sawyer added: “The problems that we are talking about here are not your fault. They are the mayor’s office’s fault.”
I feel the same way about the move in Douglas County to Home Rule (which could be good) in a super fast hurry (which is why I'm currently a no).
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SET THE BAR HIGH FOR STUDENTS Big shout out to Rocky Mountain Prep, a charter school network in Denver, for telling their kids from an early age that college was the goal. Now they celebrate their second year of 100% college acceptance for their graduating class. I love this:
Talk of college and postsecondary opportunities begins early in Rocky Mountain Prep classrooms, Noyola said. Teachers discuss goal-setting with students and research together what steps students need to achieve different career paths.
Students receive college counseling, but their teachers all incorporate lessons about goals and the future, too. They fill out college applications together. They discuss what careers match up with their talents and interests.
Then, when college acceptance comes, Rocky Mountain Prep throws a big bash in front of everyone to celebrate its commitment to a higher education.
All schools need to set high expectations and let their kids achieve them.
MR. PEDOPHILE WAS WELL KNOWN TO STUDENTS Kids are not stupid, they know a creep when they see one. Now we know that the Douglas County teacher arrested for sexual touching and grooming was called by students "Mr. Pedophile". This story has more info on a letter of direction by the principal ordering Feil (Mr. Pedophile) to stop interacting with kids outside the classroom on social media or otherwise. He ignored that letter. I do wonder why a guy who the principal said gave "creeper vibes" was allowed to continue to have access to children at all.
JEFFCO SCHOOLS HAS A SEX ABUSE PROBLEM and the latest arrest of a school psychologist is just the latest in a LONG stream of adults abusing kids there.
COLORADO IS NOTHING SPECIAL TO BUSINESS ANYMORE And this editorial reminds us that our competitiveness has deteriorated rapidly under Democrat control.
COLORADO IS FIGHTING A LOSING BATTLE OVER IMMIGRATION And specifically the Trump Administration's move to halt federal funds to sanctuary states and cities. The Supreme Court has affirmed the federal government's right to do that previously, and since Colorado just passed ANOTHER law making us even MORE of a sanctuary state we really don't have a leg to stand on. But we're suing anyway, wasting tax dollars and time. Whatever.

THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY UNIONS SUCK 1,000 Starbucks baristas are on strike. Why? Because Starbucks issued a new uniform policy. It must be outrageous if they striking! Well, you decide:
Starbucks put new limits starting Monday on what its baristas can wear under their green aprons. The dress code requires employees at company-operated and licensed stores in the U.S. and Canada to wear a solid black shirt and khaki, black or blue denim bottoms.
The HORROR! They have to wear clothes they probably all already own! What shocking working conditions! How will they make coffee like this??? Oh, and Starbucks is also giving two FREE black shirts to each employee to help with the transition. MONSTERS. This is why unions suck.
MEN DIE OF BROKEN HEART SYNDROME MORE OFTEN Broken Heart syndrome is a documented medical condition where people who have suffered a huge emotional or physical shock have heart problems as a result. Women are more likely to have this after an emotional event, whereas men tend to get it after a physical event, and they are more likely to DIE from it overall. Read more here.
WHY SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING IS JUST A RUSE It sounds nice, doesn't it? Social emotional learning so kids can learn to be good humans! But through what lens? That's what this column about it explores and you need to pay attention.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRITAIN AND THE UK? You should know just in case you're going to watch the Broncos play in London this fall. Read it here.

@cbsnews Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) was caught sleeping Wednesday when he was supposed to cast his vote on a reconciliation bill during an early morning session. This happened just before 5 a.m., as the House Ways and Means Committee was over 14 hours into a markup session on the bill, which then continued for hours more. #us #dc #news #sleepy

UBER AND LYFT ARE PUSHING HARD FOR A VETO
First time I've opened my Uber app in a while and the first thing is a notification urging users to ask Gov Polis to veto the "Ride Share Safety Bill." No word on what the governor may do, but both Uber & Lyft are threatening to leave the state if signed.https://t.co/ww3pJSAuLB pic.twitter.com/557oD8MPf8
