Fans of Netflix's new hit series Forever are sharing their excitement after it was renewed for a second season.

News of Forever's renewal dropped on Thursday (May 14), less than a week after the first season launched May 8 on Netflix.

The series, an adaptation of Judy Blume's 1975 novel, skyrocketed in popularity as viewers dove into the romance between Justin Edwards, played by Michael Cooper Jr., and Keisha Clark, portrayed by Lovie Simone. After attending grade school together, Justin and Keisha reconnect at a party and begin to fall in love with each other, navigating sports, academics, and college prep at different high schools in the process.

The show also stars Xosha Roquemore as Keisha’s mother, Karen Pittman as Justin’s mother, Wood Harris as Justin’s father, and Niles Fitch as Justin’s friend.

Many social media users were excited by news of the show's renewal.

"Yeassss finally a show about young black relationships that isn’t focused on black struggle and trauma. Tyler Perry could never!!!!" one X user wrote.

"I’m so happyyyy. I love this show. 😭" another user said.

"Forever has gotten renewed for a season two less than a week after release, don’t ever try to tell us that black leads and romance are unmarketable again because when they finally get the chance to be successful THEY ARE," a third person commented.
