Loretta Lynn’s family said the legendary late singer-songwriter would have been “proud” of the tributes to her on the historic Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, Tennessee.
Carly Pearce, Rhonda Vincent, Martina McBride, Ashley McBryde, Crystal Gayle, Twitty and Lynn (a duo made up of Conway Twitty’s grandson, Tre Twitty, and Lynn’s granddaughter, Tayla Lynn), and Emmy Russell paid tribute to Lynn during the Opry 100 Honors series. the shows are taking place as part of the Opry’s milestone 100th anniversary in 2025. Other shows in the series will include tributes to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, and Charlie Daniels, according to the Grand Ole Opry.
“Wow! Last night was an amazing night at the [Opry]!” Lynn’s family beamed in a post on the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” artist’s account on X, formerly Twitter. “There were some iconic moments, fitting for a tribute to such an iconic woman. Thank you to (the artists in the lineup) for doing Loretta proud. It was an amazing night. She would have loved it!”
The family also shared the Opry’s post, honoring Lynn as “a trailblazer” with an “undeniable...impact and legacy” on the genre and all female artists. Lynn’s family said “we couldn’t agree more! Our Mom shared her songs and stories with the world and we’re proud that they live on through these amazing artists and so many others. Y’all did her proud. Thank you [Opry]!”
Lynn “passed away peacefully…in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills, (Tennessee),” the family confirmed in a statement on October 4, 2022. She was 90. The Kentucky-born trailblazer became known for “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” “Fist City,” and more throughout her decades-long career. Lynn is survived by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
