DC & Tallahassee
May 16, 2025
President Trump and DOGE have been moving at a fast pace in these first months of the president’s second term. Not so much with congress and our legislature in Tallahassee. We’ll explore both during today’s show.
On the positive side, the Biden EV mandate has been rolled back and the president’s ban on trans-military members has been upheld.
On the downside, one columnist asks if congressional Republicans think we’re stupid (and, yes, they do) while the Democrats nationally have problems of their own.
In Tallahassee, legislative leadership is acting like they’re in congress as they take a vacation while not accomplishing the only job they are required by law to perform. The stalemate over the budget continues and lawmakers won’t get back together until after Memorial Day giving them just a month to get the work done.
This weekend on the Florida Roundtable, political scientist Chris Muro joins us to look at the legislature and give us his look at the process as our lawmakers try to figure it out.
