Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are opening up about the "scary" process of naming of their joint album.
The couple dropped their first collaborative album I Said I Love You First in March, and in a new short film they are sharing new details about their creative process, including how they came up with the name, per Billboard.
"We were just, like, trying to figure out what to even call this thing. It's such a scary thing, 'cause it's like, 'Oh, we worked so long on this! How are we even gonna figure out...'" Blanco said. However, they finally found the perfect name that felt right for them, with Gomez adding, "But I feel like that became something really easy: I Said I Love You First is just a fact."
The couple have previously revealed that Gomez was the first of the two to said those three words, something that Gomez joked about in the film.
"Technically, you probably would've said it first," she said, laughing. "I just beat you to it!"
Blanco also explained how "easy" working with her fiancé on the album, though it wasn't without some hilarious interruptions.
"It's so easy for us to do a thing together, like a project, because we speak the same language — both in music and, you know, personally," he said. "Whenever either one of us has an idea, we're always gonna listen to each other, and that, to me, goes both romantically and in our working relationship."
The Rare Beauty founder and the producer got engaged in December 2024 after a year of dating, and are busy planning their upcoming nuptials. The couple even recently shared the wedding tradition they are considering skipping for their own ceremony.
