North Carolina Man 'Stunned' After Impressive Lottery Win

A lucky lottery player in North Carolina is "pumped" after scoring a six-figure win in a digital instant game.

William Carroll, of Nashville, was played the Wheel of Bonuses game last week when his $30 play turned into a jackpot win, according to a release from the NC Education Lottery. Carroll beat the 1 in 1 million odds to win the top level "Epic" prize to land the progressive jackpot, which at the time was $202,012.

"I've never experienced anything like that," he said. "I was pumped."

Carroll laughed as he told lottery officials that he had to take some time to soak in the win before he eventually called his wife with the exciting news.

"I was trying to catch my breath. I was just stunned," he said, adding, "I called her and told her, 'Meet me in Raleigh.' We are going to enjoy this."

Carroll claimed his prized at lottery headquarters on Thursday (May 15), taking home an incredible $144,953 after all required state and federal tax withholdings. According to lottery officials, the Nash County man plans to use his winnings to pay some of his bills.

Following Carroll's win, the jackpot for the Wheel of Bonuses game reset to $50,000 and was at $68,000 by Friday morning.
