Joe Jonas is clearing the air.
Jonas reunited with Aly and AJ Michalka in a new video poking fun at rumors that sister duo's 2007 hit "Potential Breakup Song" is about the Jonas Brothers musician and his brief relationship with AJ when they were teenagers, per People. On Tuesday (May 20), Jonas shared a TikTok of the three of them each singing along to a line of the first verse, miming speaking to someone on the phone, as the song played out.
"It took too long, it took too long, it took to long for you to call back. And normally I would just forget that. Except for the fact that it was my birthday," they each said before the camera zoomed out so all three could join together to stress, "My stupid birthday."

The "Work It Out" singer addressed the longstanding theory that the song is about him, captioning the video, "Ok but I'd never do that on your birthday." Aly & AJ also shut down the speculation in the comments, writing, "And yet they STILL Think it's about you," to which Jonas quipped back, "Wait, its not?"
Fans were loving the reunion, joking that "the lore behind this goes crazy" and that "this generation does not understand joe was breaking all the disney girls hearts." Some users even poked fun at Jonas' "irresponsible phone usage" and the "27 sec voicemail" he allegedly sent to break up with Taylor Swift when they were younger.
According to People, Aly & AJ have previously clarified that the track wasn't written about Jonas or "any particular person," and instead their 2007 song "Flattery" has a closer tie to Jonas.
