Denzel Warns Photographer at Cannes Red Carpet Premiere
May 22, 2025
Denzel Washington lit up the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the world premiere of Spike Lee’s new movie, “Highest 2 Lowest.” The film stars Washington, rapper A$AP Rocky, and veteran actor Jeffrey Wright. Fans packed the famous Palais steps to catch a glimpse of the cast, and cameras flashed non-stop as the stars arrived.
The evening took an awkward turn when a photographer reached out and grabbed Washington’s arm, trying to get his attention for a pose. The 70-year-old actor calmly turned, pointed at the man, and said, “Let me tell you, stop, stop, never put your hands on me again. I’m talking to you, stop, all right.” Onlookers said the warning was firm but measured, and security quickly stepped in to restore order.
Despite the brief incident, Washington kept his composure and continued greeting fans and fellow actors. Inside the theater, the audience gave “Highest 2 Lowest” an extended standing ovation. The film follows three men from different walks of life whose paths cross during one chaotic night in New York City.
