Two women have been arrested for allegedly assisting the group of inmates that broke out of the Orleans Justice Center jail.

According to FOX 8, Courtnie Harris, 32, and Corvanntay Baptiste, 38, were booked in Plaquemines Parish Detention Center on accessory after the fact in connection with the Friday (May 16) jail break in New Orleans.

A group of 10 inmates was found missing during a routine head count at the Orleans Justice Center Jail around 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Authorities said the group escaped the jail just after midnight through a wall behind a toilet.

Harris was allegedly in contact with one of the inmates, who is still out large, before the jail break and drove two escapees to “multiple locations in New Orleans” after the incident, according to investigators.

Investigators said Baptiste was in contact with escapee Corey Boyd, who was caught on Tuesday (May 20) night. Baptiste allegedly brought food to Boyd while he was hiding in a residence.

If charged and convicted, the women could face up to five years in state prison.

In a statement, NOPD Supt. Anne Kirkpatrick warned others about helping the five remaining fugitives.

“They can change course,” Kirkpatrick said of individuals potentially aiding the escapees. “So, if they are acting out of fear, if they are participating in any way, and they decide, ‘No, I don’t want to be a part of this,’ we can help them by calling us. And we will help them get out of this snare.”

“Those who choose to assist or conceal these individuals are violating the law and will be held accountable. Harboring fugitives threatens the safety of our communities and will not be tolerated,” the Louisiana State Police added in a statement.
