A Research Study Some Politicians Could Use

June 2, 2025

An unusual study about something that even its authors say has not been studied much is pretty interesting.

The study published in the Review of General Psychology is about arrogance. It measured how self-absorbed people are and what behaviors are involved.

The researchers created something they say has not been created before…what they call an “arrogance spectrum” that’s used to classify the condition on various levels.

They looked at a range of behaviors such as talking more about oneself than listening to others, to over-estimating one’s performance to being boastful to denigrating others.

The study’s authors found that while some people are definitely more arrogant than others, everyone can display a little degree of arrogance sometimes.

The researchers say they hope their study would provide some analytical and psychological data about arrogance…that could be used to help all types of relationships, interpersonal and professional and even help improve communication between political groups.

Maybe our far too many arrogant politicians should read this study. But then they might be too arrogant to think they need to.
