Nick Lachey is recalling the emotional response he had to the end of Newlyweds.
During a recent podcast appearance, the 98 Degrees singer opened up about what it was like filming his and then-wife Jessica Simpson's MTV reality series Newlyweds in the early 2000s, admitting that when the show ended in 2005 after three seasons, he even grew emotional, per Page Six.
"I actually came to really love the crew," he said. "I remember crying the day we shut down because you develop relationships with them. They really became family."
The Love Is Blind host noted explained that those relationships were initially discouraged by the production team advising Lachey and Simpson to ignore the cameras as best as they could and go about their typical day.
"I remember at first they were like, 'Don't talk to the crew. They're a fly on the wall!'" he said, adding, "And I was like, 'Guys, if this is ever going to work, that's just not how I'm wired. You're not going to be in my house and watch my every move, and we're not going to talk to each other. We got to get past that right now."
Lachey and Simpson ultimately split in 2006 after four years of marriage and went on to marry other partners. Lachey tied the knot with Vanessa Lachey in 2011 and have three kids together, sons Camden, 12, and Phoenix, 8, and daughter Brooklyn, 10. Simpson married Eric Johnson in 2014 but announced in January 2025 that they had separated. They share three kids together, daughters Maxwell "Maxi" Drew, 13, and Birdie Mae, 6, and son Ace Knute, 11.
