Democratic Party's Polling Numbers Leave Guru In Disbelief

CNN polling guru Harry Enten was left stunned while analyzing the Democratic Party's horrendous polling numbers during a live broadcast Monday (June 2) night.
Enten addressed the Democrats' inability to close the gap with Republicans on which party has a better economic plan among registered voters despite recession concerns, stock market plunges and President Donald Trump's insistence on sweeping tariffs. Republicans were reported to have a +12 margin in May 2025, which was a three-point increase from May 2024, according to Enten.
“You’d expect that Democrats would have this massive lead on the economy — it ain’t so! It ain’t so!” Enten said while showing the polling data.
Republicans also had a +8 advantage when respondents were asked which party was "closer to your economic views" during the May poll released on Sunday (June 1). Enten acknowledged that the survey was "still within the margin of error" of a November 2023 poll showing Republicans had a +11 edge of the Democrats.
“How is that possible, Democrats!?” Enten questioned.
“How is it possible after all the recession fears? After the stock market’s been doing all of this, after all the tariffs that Americans are against, and Republicans still hold an eight-point lead on the economy? Are you kidding me!?” he added.
For decades, polls showed Dems had a double-digit edge on the party who looked out for/was the party of the middle class. Polls now show the GOP/Trump have totally eliminated that gap.

Enten continued to show more polls showing the Democrats' struggles, which included the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll showing Republicans added to their economic support during Trump's second of two non-consecutive terms.
“Party with a better economic plan? Well, in May of 2024, just before Donald Trump was re-elected president, Republicans had a nine-point advantage. Look at where we are now in May 2025 — the advantage actually went up by three points,” Enten said. “Now, Republicans have a 12-point advantage when it comes to the party with a better economic plan.
“Again, this is after months of supposed economic uncertainty in which the stock market’s been going bonkers, in which tariff wars that Americans are against have been going on. And yet, despite all of that, the Democrats are down by 12 points on the economy.”
