Jermaine Dupri has recruited R&B act dvsn to join So So Def/HYBE.
On Monday, June 2, the seasoned hitmaker announced the big news in a statement he posted to Instagram. Jermaine Dupri previously worked with singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 as a producer on their recent album Working On My Karma.
"After working with dvsn on their last album, going to their shows, seeing how much their fans love them, and then when I heard that they had just become free agents I had to sign them and make dvsn my first signing at So So Def/HYBE."
"4 everyone wondering what's been going on and where's the new music.... now you know. it's otw," dvsn wrote in an Instagram Story. "he said 'Just do what Y'ALL do and let me help shine a light on it.' The new chapter."
dvsn made their debut in 2015 and signed with Drake's OVO Sound shortly after the success of songs like "With Me" and "Too Deep." The singer/producer duo released four studio albums, including Sept. 5th (2016), Morning After (2017), A Muse in Her Feelings (2020), and Working on My Karma (2022). They also joined forces with Ty Dolla $ign for their collaborative album Cheers To The Memories in 2021.
The Canadian duo is the first act to be signed since Dupri and his label inked a deal with Scooter Braun's HYBE America last month. So So Def will now have access to HYBE's marketing resources and distribution network.
“This isn’t just a business move — this is family," Dupri said in a statement. "Watching Scooter build what he has built has made me incredibly proud. He learned the game inside So So Def, and now he’s in a position to open doors the way I once opened them for him. That’s what legacy is about.”
