Joe Jonas is in on the joke.
During an appearance on Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals YouTube series, the "Work It Out" singer revealed to host Josh Scherer what he really thought of an older episode of South Park that made fun of the Jonas Brothers. The episode, which first aired in 2009, poked fun at the musical trio for wearing purity rings as a symbol of their commitment to wait to have sex, per People.
Scherer noted that the episode where "an animated Mickey Mouse beat the s--- out of [Joe] for refusing to wear a purity ring" was the first time he was "ever exposed" to the Music for People Who Believe in Love musician, who in turn reflected on how the adult cartoon affected him and his brothers, Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas. More so, how he was the only one to find it funny at the time.
"I think I was the only brother that loved it. Our skin was not as thick back then," he said, adding, "I thought it was hilarious, because I watched South Park, and I was like, 'This is so funny, I know what they're doing, they make fun of everyone!' To be made fun of by a comic is usually a sign that they give a s---, and they care, and it's funny."
However, 15 years later, they can all look back and laugh at the experience.
"I think it's one of my favorite episodes. And later on, now, we just laugh. We love that. I think it's so great. Definitely a claim-to-fame for me," Jonas said, adding that it was "an honor to get my a-- kicked by Mickey."
Jonas has even poked fun at himself for his "purity ring era," sharing a video earlier this year explaining how he still feels "triggered" from those days.
