LISTEN: Mariah Carey Returns With Her Brand-New Single 'Type Dangerous'

June 6, 2025
Mariah Carey is back with her first new single in years, and it's iHeartRadio's latest World Premiere.
On Friday, June 6, the decorated singer released her new solo record "Type Dangerous." The legendary songstress croons over a fresh beat inspired by Eric B. & Rakim's 1987 classic, "Eric B. For President." Her rumored boo, Anderson .Paak, is also listed as a composer. Carey first previewed the track earlier this week in a brief clip of her in a black sports car with a license plate that says "MC16."
“Looking for the dangerous type,” she croons. “I like them dangerous, that’s my type/I said I love them dangerous.”
"MC16" is most likely a reference to Mariah Carey's upcoming 16th album. It would be the singer's first studio LP in seven years following her previous project, Caution. Although it's been a minute since the Lambs have received solo music from her, Carey has been in the studio cranking out rare collaborations over the years. She appeared on remixes to Muni Long's "Made For Me," Ariana Grande's "yes, and?" and Latto's "Big Energy." She also recently re-released her 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi in honor of its 20th anniversary.
Fans will be able to see Mariah Carey perform her new music at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas this fall. Carey is among several top-charting artists who will invade Sin City including GloRilla, LL COOL J, Lil Wayne, Jelly Roll and more. It's all going down September 19-20 at the T-Mobile Arena. Pre-sale tickets for Capital One cardholders begin on June 11, while general sales kick off on June 13.
