New Florida Education Commissioner Hired
(Tallahassee, FL) --The Florida Board of Education is welcoming its newest education commissioner. The board approved Governor DeSantis' pick at its meeting today. Anastasios "Stasi" Kamoutsas is a top aid to the governor. He will take over for Manny Diaz, Junior. Kamoutsas has played a key role in DeSantis' education agenda, including school choice and parental rights.
Man Arrested After Breaking Onto Trump Property
(Palm Beach, FL)-- A young man is under arrest, accused of trespassing onto President Trump's Mar-a-Lago property. Twenty-three-year-old Anthony Reyes of Texas told police he wanted to "spread the gospel" and marry Trump's 18-year-old granddaughter, Kai. She's the daughter of Donald Trump, Junior and his ex-wife, Vanessa. Reyes was booked at the Palm Beach County Jail on a 50-thousand-dollar bond and issued a stay away order.
Two Killed in Crane Collapse at Cape Canaveral Hospital Construction Site
(Merritt Island, FL) -- Two workers were killed Wednesday when a crane collapsed at a construction site for Cape Canaveral Hospital. The victims were employed by subcontractors working under Gilbane Building Company, which has paused all operations while investigators, including OSHA, look into the cause. Officials believe strong winds from a fast-moving storm may have contributed to the collapse. Health First confirmed none of their employees were on-site during the incident. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
Small Plane Crashes In Indian River
(Melbourne Beach, FL)-- Two people and a dog are said to be okay after escaping from a small plane that plunged into the Indian River in Melbourne Beach. Officials said the crash happened yesterday in the Indian River Lagoon on River Villa Way. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says a good Samaritan helped save everyone onboard. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Suspended Orlando Commissioner Regina Hill Launches Re-Election Bid

Seven West Palm Beach Officers Arrested in Deadly Crash Investigation
(West Palm Beach, FL) -- Seven West Palm Beach police officers were arrested Wednesday in connection to a fatal crash that killed a woman and her pregnant daughter last summer in Boynton Beach. The victims, 57-year-old Marcia Pochette and 27-year-old Jenice Woods, died after their car was hit by a driver fleeing from police. The officers were placed on leave in August as the crash was investigated, and are now facing charges, though their names have not been released. The West Palm Beach Fraternal Order of Police expressed sympathy for the victims' families and urged the public to respect the officers' right to due process. The officers are scheduled to appear in court on June 5.
