Kierston Russell, the twin sister of Alabama Crimson Tide freshman quarterback Keelon Russell was found dead days after they both graduated high school.

Kierston, 18, a high school basketball standout who was set to attend the University of Alabama with her brother in August, was confirmed to have died from what "at this time appears to be non-criminal in nature," the Tuscaloosa Police Department said in a statement obtained by ESPN's Chris Low on Thursday (June 5). The department said it didn't plan to release additional information at this time and asked for the public to respect the grieving family's privacy.

Keelon reposted a message on his Instagram account with four hand in a heart formation emojis along with the message: "My deepest condolences are with you guys dearly. Losing a twin sister and daughter is a pain no one could ever imagine."

The twins recently graduated from Duncanville High School in their home state of Texas. Keelon, who rates as a five-star prospect, as well as the No. 1 player from the state of Texas, No. 2 quarterback and No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, enrolled early at the University of Alabama and completed spring practice.
