Proud Boys Leaders Sue DOJ Over Jan. 6 Prosecutions
(Undated) -- Five members of the Proud Boys who took part in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot are suing the Department of Justice for millions over what they call a "political prosecution" that violated their rights. The 100-million-dollar lawsuit was filed in Florida by Henry 'Enrique' Tarrio, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Ethan Nordean, who all held leadership roles, as well as Dominic Pezzola. The group leaders were found guilty of seditious conspiracy while Pezzola was acquitted of that charge but convicted of other serious felonies. President Trump issued a sweeping clemency order granting pardons to almost all the defendants who stormed the Capitol, and now the lawsuit could force his Justice Department to defend the prosecutions under then-President Biden or pay damages to the group.
