Colorado football coach Deion Sanders is dealing with an unspecified health issue that's keeping him away from the team, according to his son.

During a livestream on Sunday (June 8), Sanders' son, Deion Sanders Jr., revealed that the former NFL star is resting at his home in Texas while his Colorado team is preparing for the start of football season, per USA Today.

“He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he going through, what he went through,” Deion Jr. said on the livestream, adding that his father is “feeling well.”

Deion Jr, who handles his father's social media, said it's unclear when they would be heading back to Boulder.

“When we get back in Boulder, I don’t know,” he said. “I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m gonna sit here with him.”

Sanders also missed an appearance at a sickle cell disease symposium in Florida "due to an unavoidable last-minute scheduling change,” the Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research said in a statement.

Coach Prime was last seen publicly in April at an NFL draft watch party for his son, Sheuder, who was surprisingly selected in the fifth round and picked up by the Cleveland Browns.

The NFL Hall of Famer has long suffered from blood clot issues related to his legs and feet. In 2021, Sanders had his left big toe and second toe amputated due to blood clots he developed after surgery. He also underwent surgery in 2023 to treat blood clots in both of his legs.
