The YSL RICO case involving Young Thug, Gunna, and others has officially ended after the final defendant entered his plea.
On Monday, June 9, Christian Eppinger pleaded guilty to attempted murder for the shooting of an Atlanta police officer as well as other charges, including theft, armed robbery, gun charges, and conspiring to violate Georgia's RICO Act. Eppinger, also known as "Big Bhris," was caught on camera shooting Officer David Rodgers six times in 2022. The footage was played in court six times during his trial. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the 25-year-old was sentenced to 75 years in prison, but he'll only serve 40, which will run concurrently with the 45 years he’s already serving.
“Mr. Eppinger is still a young man, so at some point he can get out and still move on,” Eppinger’s attorney Eric Johnson said.
Eppinger's plea signaled the end of the years-long case that sent shockwaves throughout the state. Young Thug, Gunna, and other members of the rapper's Young Slime Life were arrested in May 2022 on numerous charges that were included in a massive indictment. Thug, born Jeffrey Williams, was held in the Fulton County jail for nearly two years before the trial finally began in late 2023.
Following a lengthy jury selection process, Young Thug and his co-defendants faced trial for nearly a year. His attorney, Brian Steel, stood by his side until the Atlanta native agreed to a plea deal in October 2024. Thugger was released from jail on Halloween and immediately began his yearslong probation sentence.
