So much for a sweep, Guardians blast Reds

June 11, 2025

Guardians 11 Reds 2

Nick Lodolo didn’t have it early, and never found it. Carlos Santana hit a 3rd inning grand slam to make it 5-0, and it only got worse.

The Reds (35-34) five game win streak is snapped. They take 2 of 3 from the Guardians and win the season series (5-1).

While the Reds have won 5 of their last 6, losing to Logan Allen (4.42) with Lodolo getting hammered today leaves you at least a little disappointed.

Lodolo: 3.1 IN, 5 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 6 K, HR, HBP, 76 pitches.
33 pitches w/ 0 outs 2nd. Shortest outing year.
1st: 8 pitch BB to .150 hitting David Fry/scored.
3rd: HBP Ramirez. Grand slam Santana.

Offense: 5 H, 2 BB, 7 K. 2 HR. Reds 8-14 vs LHP.
Had been 28-12 when hitting HR, 20-3 when hitting multiple HR.
LHP Logan Allen: 6 IN, 2 R, 6 K....He'd struck out 6 combined over his last three starts.
Elly: 2 H, HR 441 feet/108.6 mph
Friedl: HR, BB
McLain: H, BB
CES: Hit by pitch on bill of batting helmet by Emmanuel Clase

Joe/Hampson started in OF. 0 for 7, 2 K......Hampson: DP, misplay in OF.

Chances:
1st Espinal 1 out 1B, advance to 3rd on errant throw. Elly GO. CES GO.

Bullpen:
Richardson 1.2, R, La Sorsa 1.0, 5 R, Barlow 1.0, Gibaut 1.0

How they scored:
4th Elly HR (13), 5-1 Guardians
6th Friedl HR (7), 7-2 Guardians

Defense:
Hampson misplayed ball off wall/over head for Ramirez RBI 2B in 1st.
Heck of a 6-4-3 DP turn.

Most Outstanding Player in Ohio Cup: Will Benson

Next up: Weekend series vs Tigers (44-24), owners of the best record in MLB. The Reds miss Detroit ace Tarik Skubal.
