4.7 Magnitude Earthquake Reported In US

A 4.7-magnitude earthquake was reported in Alaska on Wednesday (June 11), according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake was centered near Adak at a depth of 27.1 kilometers (about 17 miles). The USGS said it received zero reports of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.

The Adak earthquake was reported one hours after a 4.1-magnitude earthquake was reported in Alaska on Tuesday (June 10), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered near Skwentna at a depth of 15.2 kilometers (about 9.4 miles).

The Alaska earthquake was reported hours after a 3.4-magnitude earthquake was reported in Nevada on Monday (June 9), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered near Rachel at a depth of 4.3 kilometers (about 2.8 miles).

The Nevada earthquake was reported hours after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake was reported in Colombia on Sunday (June 8), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered near Paratebueno at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles).

The Colombian earthquake was reported two days after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake was reported in Chile on Friday (June 6), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered near Diego de Almagro at a depth of 76.6 kilometers (about 48 miles).
