Former NFL star-turned UFC fighter Greg Hardy claims his family is "perfectly fine" and blamed "chaos machines" after his recent domestic violence arrest.

Hardy, 36, was charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member last Wednesday (June 4), according to an affidavit obtained by CBS News, but shared an Instagram Story claiming *My family and I are all perfectly fine."

"Please stop spreading lies and rumors and give our family the time and space to work through it all in private," Hardy posted, along with a photo of a woman and two children via the New York Post. “Things get emotional but has never and will never be what you clowns are trying to spread. I ask with all my heart please, My family and I are all perfectly fine. Please stop spreading lies and rumors and give our family the time and space to work through it all in private.”

The affidavit reported that Miranda Thorp, who was described as Hardy's girlfriend, called police after she was attacked by him, which left visible, prior to the former football player taking her car. Officers at the scene described scratches and redness on Thorp that they said were "consistent with a physical altercation," the Daily Mail reported.

The alleged incident stemmed from Thorp telling Hardy she viewed messages on his phone and accused him of being unfaithful, at which point he told her to get out of his face before shoving her to the ground, straddling her and putting his hands on her throat, according to the affidavit. Hardy reportedly claimed that Thorp poked him in the forehead with her index finger before he grabbed her by the arms and placed her on a bed to move her out of his way.

Hardy has a criminal history, which derailed his once promising NFL career. The then-Carolina Panthers star was arrested in 2014 for allegedly attacking his girlfriend at the time and again for cocaine possession two years later, at which point he was already out of the NFL.

Hardy was selected by the Panthers at No. 175 overall in the sixth-round of the 2010 NFL Draft and was selected as a Second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler in 2013 but placed on the commissioner's exempt list amid the domestic violence cast and the team opted not to re-sign him in 2015. The former Ole Miss standout signed with the Dallas Cowboys that same offseason but was suspended for his first 10 games due to the NFL Personal Conduct Policy and his early production dropped as the Cowboys also opted not to re-sign him after one season.

Hardy made his amateur MMA debut in November 2017 and went 3-0 before going professional, also won his first three pro fights and his UFC pay-per-view debut, but losing his last three consecutive from 2020 to 2022 with a career record of 7-5-0 (1 NC).
