What Dads Need to Remember on Fathers Day
June 13, 2025
Fathers Day. It comes every year and every year there are studies and surveys about fathers and the impact they have on their kids.
A dad is not a mom. Both may take care of the kids, and with today’s economic reality, and two income families, sometimes dads take care of the kids more than moms.
But each of them, was created to have a unique role in how they relate and interact with their children.
A recent study looked into the impact of dads. It was called “Good Fathers, Flourishing Kids, The Importance of Fatherhood”.
The researchers reached a strong consensus: having an engaged dad at home has a profound positive impact on a child’s life—for his or her entire life. By extension, an absent or disengaged dad can be disastrous for a child.
They found that kids growing up without a dad at home can make them about twice as likely to be diagnosed with depression and three times as likely to have behavior or learning problems at school. And they’re half as likely to earn good grades as their peers with a dad at home.
In other words, on the day kids give their fathers presents, the best present a dad can give to their kids is to be present.
