Two court security officers were stabbed at the Manhattan criminal courthouse on Monday morning (June 16). According to a state courts spokesperson, the incident occurred as the officers were screening individuals at the metal detectors. One officer was slashed in the face, while the other sustained injuries to the neck. Both were taken to a local hospital and are in stable condition.

The assailant, described as an emotionally disturbed individual with 18 prior arrests, was subdued by several court officers near the magnetometers. The suspect is currently being evaluated at Bellevue Hospital. The attack, which was captured on surveillance video, is considered a "targeted attack" against the security personnel at the courthouse, according to court spokesperson Al Baker.

The incident took place at approximately 9:45 a.m., and three additional officers sustained injuries while responding to the attack. The suspect's name and potential charges have not yet been released.

The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, and law enforcement officials are reviewing video footage of the attack.

The courthouse, an iconic 17-story Art Deco building completed in 1941, has been the site of several high-profile cases, including the recent retrial of Harvey Weinstein and the criminal trial of President Donald Trump.
