Justin Moore honored late legend Keith Whitley when he covered one of the Country Music Hall of Fame members late 1980s ballads on a recent episode of God’s Country.

The “Small Town USA” artist performed “I’m Over You” when he joined brothers Dan and Reid Isbell on the podcast. Whitley’s ballad appeared on his 10-track studio record, I Wonder Do You Think of Me, which was posthumously released in August 1989. Whitley died on May 9, 1980. He was 34: “Where there's a cloud, don't mean there's rain/ Tears in my eyes, don't mean there's pain/ Don't flatter yourself/ I’m over you …if I seem a little bit cold/ It only means you've lost the hold/ You had on me/ I’m over you.”

“This week Reid and Dan host multiplatinum artist and Arkansan, Justin Moore, out in God's Country. The conversation recaps how some of Justin's biggest hits came to fruition and how taking some chances sonically have helped him stand the test of time in the music industry. He shares the emotional experience of seeing his daughters harvest their first whitetail deer and tells the guys his favorite hunting past time. Moore explains why it was so important for him to move his family back to his hometown, population 300, and the things he may have missed as an artist living there. The gravorite is a throwback to one of the country music greats, that you won't wanna miss.”

Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke CombsMiranda LambertScotty McCreeryJon PardiLainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast in early January 2024. Some of the first guests to appear on the show include HARDYDustin LynchColbie Caillat and others.

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”
