Vice President JD Vance was suspended from the X alternative social media platform Bluesky just minutes after launching his account.

“Hello Bluesky, I’ve been told this app has become the place to go for common sense political discussion and analysis,” Vance wrote in his first post, according to the New York Post. “So I’m thrilled to be here to engage with all of you.”

Vance then gave his take on the Supreme Court's ruling that upheld Tennessee's restrictions on transgender medical treatments for minors on the liberal-leaning social media website.

"To that end, I found Justice Thomas's concurrence on medical care for transgender youth quite illuminating. He argues that many of our so-called "experts" have used bad arguments and substandard science to push experimental therapies on our youth," Vance wrote. "I might add that many of those scientists are receiving substantial resources from big pharma to push these medicines on kids. What do you think?"

Vance's account was suspended within 12 minutes of being launched before eventually being reversed, according to Axios journalist Marc Caputo.

"Update: the ban appears to have been reversed," Caputo wrote.

Vance's post didn't appear to conflict with Bluesky's community guidelines, however, the website claimed it believed the vice president's account was run by an impersonator.

“Vice President Vance’s account was briefly flagged by our automated systems that try to detect impersonation attempts which have targeted public figures like him in the past. The account was quickly restored and verified so people can easily confirm its authenticity,” a Bluesky spokesperson said via the New York Post. “We welcome the Vice President to join the conversation on Bluesky.”

The social media app was launched an alternative to X following its purchase by billionaire Elon Musk, having seen a massive growth following President Donald Trump's 2024 election win amid an X exodus of Democratic users.
