Tropical Storm Andrea, the first named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, has formed. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Andrea is currently located about 1,205 miles west of the Azores as of 10 a.m. ET. It is moving east-northeast at speeds of 15 to 20 mph with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

The storm is expected to be short-lived, with forecasts predicting it will dissipate by Wednesday night (June 25). Fortunately, Andrea poses no threat to land, and no watches or warnings have been issued. USA Today reports that Andrea's formation aligns with the average timing for the first storm of the season, which typically occurs by June 20.

While Andrea is not expected to impact land, the NHC is monitoring another area of low pressure off the coast of Central America. This system has a 70% chance of developing into a tropical depression over the next week.
