LeAnn Rimes admitted she doesn’t often experience “firsts” in her career; however, the two-time Grammy winner revealed her “most epic example of how the show must go on.”
Rimes, 42, said her teeth fell out in the middle of her performance.
The singer-songwriter was performing her 90s single, “One Way Ticket (Because I Can),” when she could “feel something pop,” and she “panicked.” Rimes said in a video she posted on her social media accounts on Sunday (June 22):
“OK. We’re gonna do a little story time about how the show must go on, and this is the most epic example of how the show must go on. So, last night, I was on stage. In the middle of ‘One Way Ticket,’ I feel something pop in my mouth. And if you’ve been around, you know I’ve had a lot of dental surgeries. And I have a bridge in the front, and it fell out in the middle of my song last night, to which I panicked and in the middle said ‘hold on,’ ran to the side of the stage and put it back in, popped it back in, and then just went on singing. And then I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening or else I would’ve had to walk off stage. And so, for the rest of the show, I was literally…pushing my teeth in, like, every couple lines, and singing, which, by the way, I never knew how many Fs and THs and SHs that I have in my songs, especially ‘Can’t Fight The Moonlight.’”
“It was the most epic experience ever. I don’t usually have firsts in my career. That was a first, and hopefully a last,” Rimes said. “I hope my teeth stay in tonight. We shall see. [Fans in] the front row, get ready for something to fly out. If you catch them, please return them. You know. Good times. Just keeping it real…just as real as I had to last night. And you know what, like I said, there wasn’t a f***ing thing I could do about it except either walk off or just hold my teeth in and sing. So, I just ran with it in case, you know, anybody has an issue on stage ever and feels embarrassed by it, just watch this video again and it’ll remind you that the show can go on, even in the midst of sheer, utter embarrassment. You just gotta be real with people.”
