I get that you can't win 'em all. I get that in the big picture/grand scheme of things, taking 2 of 3 from the Yankees is a positive.

But dang. What a mess of a night, in the field and on the bases. It was just a really sloppy, unfocused display of baseball.

Yes, the Reds (42-39) still managed to win their fifth series win in the last six. 
But they also committed an error, should have been given three, lost two balls in the sun, and had a runner picked off.

Yankees lefty Max Fried (1.92) flummoxed Reds batters over seven shutout innings. In two nights vs LHP Rodon/Fried, the Reds produced 0 earned runs in 13 innings. Former Red Fernando Cruz struckout the side in the 8th. Jason Dominguez collected a career-high four hits and the Yankees applied the pressure early and often. Their leadoff batter reached in eight of nine innings. They were 4 for 22 with runners in scoring position, stranding 12.

Offense: 4 H, 1 BB, 10 K. 19th time scoring 1 or 0 runs.
Elly: 2 H, R. 3 straight multi-hit games.  
McLain: 0 for last 14, following 10 game hit streak.  
Hinds: 0-3, 3 K. I can only assume Tito thinks he can hit LHP. Now 2 for 28, 14 K vs LHP MLB career. 
Espinal: Double/picked off. Hitting .185 previous 45 games…with .453 OPS.
Reds started night: .258 vs RHP (4th MLB), .217 vs LHP (26th MLB).

Singer: 5 IN, 6 H, 4 R (HR), 3 BB, season high 9 K/103 pitches. “D” certainly didn’t help him. 1st 6 outs, and 8 of first 9 by K. 
Escaped w/ only 1 run from bases loaded/out mess in 2nd. 47 pitches thru 2, 67 in 3. Trainers visited on the 5th. 

Bullpen:  4 IN, 3 R
Bullpen going back to Saturday: 25.2 innings/9.0, 2.0, 4.2, 6.0, 4.0.
Gibaut 0.2, 2 R, Rogers 1.1, Phillips 1.0, Suter 1.0, R.

Fielding:
Two NY doubles to CF were sun aided. 
Friedl caught/dropped a ball. Ruled a hit. 
CES throwing error
Elly fielding miscue/ruled a hit 
Elly didn’t realize Rice re-tagged late from 3rd/no communication help. Throw late. Run. 
Elly nice backhand smother/throw/saved run.
CES nice over-the-shoulder foul catch/throw home to prevent runner from tagging.

It really is comically embarrassing how poor official scoring is at GABP. Two obvious errors by Reds defense ruled hits.
