That Mexican OT is apologizing to fans after he faced backlash for claiming he could use the n-word without retribution.
The Texas native recently discussed cancel culture during his appearance on Angela Yee's Lip Service podcast. When rapper Cleotrapa asked him about using the n-word, That Mexican OT said he felt comfortable using the word because he grew up in a predominantly Black community and has Black family members. His staunch position on the topic stirred up backlash from other Black artists like Cleo, Monaleo, Atlanta rapper Anycia and others.
“If u not black. stop saying n***a. period," Anycia wrote on X. "Idk why that’s so hard??? idc who u grew up with. if u NOT black expand ur vocabulary.”
“all this talk about who can/can’t say n***a a day after juneteenth is egregious,” Monaleo wrote. “If not u not black don’t say ngga! the fck be wrong with yall? shame on anybody condoning the use of a slur towards a marginalized community that isn’t even your own. in 2025 at that. the audacity!”
Sauce Walka, who has collaborated with OT several times in the past, initially defended OT and argued that Anycia's criticism was “ignorance at its finest.” However, Sauce eventually walked back his defense and ultimately declared that the "Johnny Dang" rapper was wrong.
“B***h, you wrong, hoe!” Sauce said in a video he posted.
The debate over who could use the word sparked a lot of conversations on social media. Following all the backlash he received, That Mexican OT felt compelled to apologize after one of his longtime supporters lost respect for him. He took to his Instagram Story and posted a public apology.
“I meant it deeper then the word cuzin I coulda said anything and I would stand on it for my beliefs being strong strictly no hate or ill in my heart," he wrote. “I gotta alotta love for my brother and sister hood man. Blessings and I’m sorry to hurt my people I hope yall can forgive me.”
