Watch: Ronnie McDowell Shares Update After Suffering 'Mini Stroke' On Stage

Ronnie McDowell shared a message to his fans days after suffering a “mini stroke” on stage.

The country star, 75, suffered the stroke while he was performing at the Summer Solstice Music Festival in Oley, Pennsylvania, and was rushed to a nearby hospital. His family asked for prayers, and shared a few updates on the singer’s health in the days that followed (including when he was released and heading home). One of McDowell’s sons, Ronnie McDowell Jr., confirmed in a post last week that “doctors told him that he will need surgery in the next few weeks. They do want him to take it easy but they said that he can perform and workout in the next few days. He was so happy about that.”

“Hi folks. Yes, I had a stroke. …But you know what? I’m walking,” McDowell said in a video he recorded and shared on his Facebook page in the days after the “mini stroke,” as McDowell Jr. referred to it in a recent post. The legendary country artist was in the midst of a two-mile walk when he recorded his update. He also said he would play a sold-out show in Kentucky with a VIP fan appreciation event.
