Sean "Diddy" Combs had an emotional moment with his family after a jury reached a partial verdict in his sex trafficking trial.
According to a report TMZ published on Tuesday, July 1, the music mogul turned to talk to his mother Janice Combs, who sat a row behind him in court. He leaned in close and told her, "I'll be alright," and "I love you" as he thumped his chest. He also whispered some words to his six adult children in the gallery, including Justin, Christian, and Quincy. Afterward, Combs' daughters and his mother seemed emotional as they left the courthouse.
Combs' family has offered their support throughout the 7-week trial. His sons have attended a majority of the proceedings, and so has his mother. His daughters, Chance and twins Jessie & D'Lila, have also supported their father, especially toward the end of the trial.
The Bad Boy Records founder is facing charges of transportation to engage in prostitution, sex trafficking, and racketeering. The jury has already decided on four of the five counts. In a note sent to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, the 12 jurors explained that they did not reach a unanimous verdict on the racketeering conspiracy charge because there are jurors with “unpersuadable views” on both sides. After consulting with the prosecution and Combs' attorneys, Judge Subramanian ordered the jury to continue deliberations on Wednesday.
If convicted on all counts, Combs could faced 15 years to life in prison.
